Dr. Nael Georges
Centre Director
With deep knowledge of the Arab region - including its legal and political systems - Nael Georges has 12 years’ experience of working with international and regional organizations in a variety of roles including researcher and human rights officer. He has published numerous books and articles on issues related to minorities, constitutions, political and legal reform in Islam, democracy and human rights. After gaining his law degree from the University of Damascus and his Master’s degree in International and European Law from the University of Grenoble II, Nael Georges obtained his doctorate in international human rights law in France. He speaks English, Arabic and French.
Dr. Mohamad Khir Alwazir
Senior Advisor
Dr. Mohamad Khir Alwazir is a Syrian writer and researcher specializing in Sharia, law, and humanities, with a PhD from the International University of Novi Pazar. He is an Assistant Professor at the Global Medina University (MEDIU) in Malaysia and a faculty member at the Faculty of Islamic Sciences in the UK and Canada. A member of GREA in Switzerland, he has been honored for his contributions by the Arab Translators Association. Dr. Alwazir founded the Syrian Institute for Public Opinion Studies and has published extensively on peacebuilding. He is currently the Co-Executive Director of PoSH, a humanitarian organization in Geneva.
